The Duplin Career Prep Academy visited us last week for a day of learning! The 8th graders had a packed schedule starting with a crash course with course Superintendents Chris Humphrey and Chris (Peter Futral) on golf course maintenance.

STEAMA 1.0 teacher at Beulaville Elementary School, Sonya Miller, joined the 8th graders on their trip. She said, “We did something similar to this prior to COVID, but it’s not happened the past 2 years, so it truly was a great trip!”

Then they learned about the ways technology has helped the landscaping industry with Landscape Manager Chris Randall. Their final stop was at a farm with Land & Nutrient Manager Tonya Branson, where they learned about Land Nutrient Management.

Miller continued on by saying, “It was a great opportunity for students to experience possible careers in Duplin County.”

They also enjoyed lunch provided by Village Store & Subs.
