For the past year, House of Raeford Farms FLOCK has been honoring individuals in the Duplin County, NC area through their FLOCK Cares outreach program. These citizens include those who have gone beyond themselves to affect the lives of others. From schoolteachers to emergency personnel to medical workers to House of Raeford associates, it has been a privilege to celebrate those who often go unnoticed.

This month the Wallace Police Department held their annual Community Partners Dinner, recognizing officers, citizens, and business owners for their tireless efforts in building a better Wallace. Among the honorees were four officers who exhibited an incredible display of courage and resolve during a life-saving incident. On June 1, 2022, Officer Justin Harmon, Sgt. Darrell Blanton, Captain Weston Padgett, and Captain David Morgan responded to a medical emergency at the local Walmart store. Upon arrival, the officers found Mrs. Judy Jones unconscious and not breathing. Robert Davis, an employee of Walmart, was administering CPR. Over the course of the next 15 minutes, and with the help of Sgt. Blanton’s department-issued Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the officers and Davis were successful in resuscitating the woman. Unfortunately, 33 days later following a heart procedure, Mrs. Jones passed away.

House of Raeford Farms FLOCK heard about the incident and wanted to do something to help honor the officers. FLOCK provided gifts of food and gas certificates to these public servants in appreciation of their tireless efforts to save a life.

In addition, Mrs. Jones’ husband presented the four officers with a Life Saving Award. He said that the extra time with his wife meant the world to him, and he was so appreciative of the officers’ efforts. FLOCK learned later that the officers gave a portion of their gifts to Mr. Jones because they felt it was the right thing to do. That is the true spirit of FLOCK Cares.
