Duplin County Sheriff’s Office seek help in identifying suspect in fatal shooting

On Monday, September 26, 2022 at approximately 3:08 pm, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Bennett’s Bridge Road near Reyes Verdin Lane, Mt. Olive, NC in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound. Once on scene, deputies found 33 year old Vincent Edward Woodley, Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Duplin County EMS and Deputies on scene attempted to resuscitate the victim, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, it was learned that 44 year old Antonio Hodges of Goldsboro shot the victim during a brief altercation. Hodges fled the scene. A warrant is on file for murder and the investigation is ongoing. The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Antonio Hodges.
