From the Highlands Biological Station to the Museum of Coastal Carolina, Grandfather Mountain to Port Discover, 55 science centers across the state have been awarded $6.3 million in special grants as part of the North Carolina Science Museums Grant Program.
Hope for the Warriors recently hosted its Summer Soiree at River Landing in Wallace, North Carolina. The annual event honored three members of our nation’s armed forces and their families with the Vigiano Family Hope & Courage Awards in addition to honoring individuals, corporations and organizations who have stood beside the organization in serving military families.
Rose-Hill Magnolia’s Elementary and Middle School both had participants place to be eligible to compete in Beta Club Nationals at Nashville, TN.

The Got To Be NC Golf Classic has provided a networking opportunity for Got to Be NC members to engage outside the store for a great day of golf. The amateur tournament was designed for a fun, laid-back day filled with opportunities to connect and grow business relationships.
James Sprunt Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter recently held an induction ceremony to celebrate the academic achievement of students who have completed at least twelve hours of coursework towards an Associate’s degree or at least six hours towards a certificate with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
“This is a combined service of more than 70 years. We salute you and we thank you for your leadership and vision for Duplin County Schools,” said Dr. Obasohan.
The Golden LEAF Scholarship application for the 2022-2023 academic year is now available at CFNC.org. A total of 215 awards will be offered to first-time recipients from qualifying rural and economically distressed or tobacco-dependent counties. Applications are due March 1, 2022.
Communities and all government entities statewide are encouraged to enter this year’s N.C. Department of Transportation Mobi Awards, which honor the state’s best multimodal projects.
The N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission (N.C. TTFC) awarded over $4 million through 23 grants for agricultural and economic initiatives across the state. These grants place a high priority on projects that stimulate the agricultural economy, train current and future farmers and help farmers execute innovative ideas.
The N.C. Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions (HOPE) Program marked its Oct. 15 one-year anniversary with more than a half-billion dollars in pandemic relief funds awarded to North Carolina landlords and utility companies on behalf of vulnerable families. In total, HOPE has awarded $520.2 million to 135,213 families with more than $461 million of that amount already paid to landlords and utility providers across the state.
