On Monday, May 16, NCSHP members from Pender, Duplin and Wilson counties along with retired Troop B Headquarters staff attended the East Duplin High School Senior Awards Night to honor Trooper Benjamin Derek Wallace, B-447, who passed away after suffering a medical emergency on November 2, 2018.
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) recently launched its Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year program. The primary goal of the program is to honor and retain excellent CTE teachers in NC public schools. Each school district and charter school was invited to submit one nominee.
18 students from Duplin County Schools participated in the Future Teacher Conference hosted by the Watson College of Education at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
JROTC cadets from East Duplin High School, James Kenan High School, and Wallace-Rose Hill High School participated in the Cadet of the County Competition on April 6th.
James Sprunt Community College (JSCC) hosted approximately 100 high school students from Duplin County to tour the updated nursing facility located in the Hoffler Building.

Regina Humphries, a teacher at East Duplin High School, has retired after over 24 years in education. For now, she plans to work alongside her sister at their home bakery, Maple Creek Bakery.
